As a film composer, I spend most of my time locked up in my studio, working on music for films, TV, and other media. While it's an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling job, it can also be a very lonely one.

Gone are the days where film composers would regularly meet and collaborate with directors, producers, and other musicians in person. Nowadays, most of our connections are made through social media and online platforms. While it's great that we can still network and collaborate in this way, it's just not the same as sitting down face to face and working on music together.

The downside of spending all day in the studio is that it's hard to socialize. Being a composer requires a lot of focus and concentration, and it can be difficult to switch gears and be sociable when you're in the middle of a project. There's also the fear of missing out on important events or opportunities because you're not out there networking and meeting people.

Then there are the mental phantoms that come with being a musician. The uncertainty of where your career is headed and the fear of not being able to make a living doing what you love can be overwhelming at times. It's a path with no clear direction, but one that requires constant passion and dedication to keep pushing forward.

Despite the challenges, being a film composer is an incredibly rewarding profession. To see your music come to life on the big screen, and to know that your work is helping to tell a story and elicit emotions from audiences, is truly gratifying. And while it may be a solitary life, it's one that I wouldn't trade for anything else.
